What is Hypnosis?
Hypnosis is an altered state of mind (conscious) during which one allows healthy suggestions into the subconscious mind in order to make positive changes.
Generally speaking, hypnosis is used to change bad habits and increase positive traits. Some of the most common reasons people seek help from hypnosis is to lose weight or stop smoking. Other issues such as boosting confidence in business and calming unreasonable fears are also fairly common. Hypnosis has also been shown to be a wonderful adjunct treatment for many medical issues when coordinated with a person’s doctor. Some medical issues people seek hypnosis for is to calm side effects from chemotherapy, reduce anxiety for dental visits and help manage pain through appropriate imagery.
Hypnosis is a conscious state of mind. Therefore the old concern that a hypnotist will “control” the mind of a person in hypnosis is just a myth. People don’t do anything while hypnotized that goes against their own value system or behavioral code.
